Data-Intensive Supercomputing Laboratory

Call for Papers

A Special Issue of Lobachevskii Journal of Mathematics
on "High Performance Data Intensive Computing”
(№8, scheduled on October, 2018)

In the recent years data intensive applications have become widespread and appeared in many science and engineering areas (biology, bioinformatics, medicine, cosmology, finance, social network analysis, cryptology etc.). They are characterized by a large amount of data, irregular workloads, unbalanced computations and low sustained performance of computing systems. Development of new algorithmic approaches and programming technologies are urgently needed to boost efficiency of the HPC systems for similar applications thus enabling advancing of HPC and Big Data convergence.

This special issue of Lobachevskii Journal of Mathematics (2018, issue 8, indexed in Web of Science, Scopus) is seeking original unpublished papers that present scientific contribution in the problems of high performance data-intensive applications and technologies development.

Topics of Interest

The special issue seeks papers with a special emphasis on high performance, high level of parallelism and scalability in the following topics of interest:

  • Data-intensive applications and High Performance Computing, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence
  • Parallel programming models and runtime systems for data-intensive computing
  • Graph and NoSQL databases
  • Hardware architecture for data-intensive computing in exascale era
  • Power and energy efficiency, storage and file systems with regard to data-intensive applications
  • Monitoring, troubleshooting, and failure recovery in data-intensive world
  • Specific issues of performance evaluation, analytic modeling, simulation for data-intensive applications
  • Visualization of data at extreme scale
